Where does the leadership come from that will sustain your lean transformation?

This is the most common problem encountered by companies that have started down the lean transformation path and are wondering why progress is so slow or even non-existent. Everyone wants the “key to success”.

It comes from a strong top management vision coupled with front line managers who know what to do.

In order for a company to accomplish a true lean transformation, real improvement must occur and be sustained at the process level. The process level is the place where the value added work is being performed.

Sustained transformation comes from the fusion of strategy with front line leadership at the point where change must occur at the process level.

How do we get people (specifically supervisors) to focus on the right things, understand the dynamics of change and be able to lead real continuous improvement at the process level. We must have supervisors that can lead, who understand the key business issues and how they relate to daily activities, who can hold people accountable and overcome resistance, all the while motivating in a positive manner.
